The legislature Wednesday banned bullfighting in Catalonia in Spain, the first major region to make deadly centuries-old ballet between matador and beast after a heated debate that the rights of animals against a pillar of the traditional ban pitted culture.Cheers broke in the 135-seat local legislators announced by the speaker, the ban passed 68-to-55 with nine abstentions.
