News Alert 456: Flash news
Flash news San Diego lifeguards had to rescue dozens of people on La Jolla Shores Thursday from what they called a “flash” rip current. “All available lifeguards were in the water, and we had to send for backup from other beaches to safeguard the rest of the people,” Lt. Nick Lerma told our media partner the La Jolla Light. Lerma said about 100 people were affected by the current when it hit just before 3 p.m. Thursday. Only 26 people needed to be rescued.
